Building on the Islands During Monsoon Season: What to Plan For

Published July 3, 2026 · by The Triple D Construction Team

The islands on the Gulf of Thailand's southern coast have a fairly distinct monsoon season. Sequencing work so that structural and roofing work is completed before heavy rains set in significantly reduces the risk of delays and material damage during construction.

Material transport is also affected by weather conditions, so key materials should be ordered in advance with buffer time built into the schedule, rather than relying on rush shipping during rough seas.

The construction site should also have good drainage from the very start, to prevent water pooling around the foundation while work is still in progress.
