Demolishing an Old Bridge and Building a New One — Without Stopping the Trains

The Challenge

This project involved demolishing an old railway bridge and building a new one on the southern rail line, spanning Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces. The core challenge was that the line had to remain in service throughout construction — the work had to proceed without disrupting the train schedule, under a tight timeline, unlike a typical construction project where the site can simply be closed off.

Our Approach

Our team joined the project as a subcontractor on a government infrastructure project, working closely with the project's overall plan to sequence demolition and construction work around the train schedule. Safety on a site immediately adjacent to an active rail line was the team's first priority throughout.

The Outcome

The work was completed with trains continuing to run on their normal schedule throughout construction — a result that reflects the team's ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure work under tight time constraints and complex operational conditions.
